Silverbac 2.0 XL Built-In: Upgrade your Outdoor Kitchen with the Ultimate Barrel Style Pellet Smoker
This version of the Silverbac 2.0 XL comes with a specific outdoor kitchen unit and cannot be installed into previous versions of the outdoor kitchen grill base sections. That said, this section still fits perfectly alongside other outdoor kitchen sections. Please contact customer service if you have any questions.
The Silverbac 2.0 XL revolutionizes our line of barrel style pellet smokers, boasting our largest barrel capacity, 3-levels of sliding grates, a new grease management system and a redesigned body with an integrated front shelf. In addition, this version comes with a custom designed stainless steel BBQ island section that fits perfectly into our existing modular outdoor kitchen system.
This Silverbac 2.0 XL version is the biggest possible grill you can install into our BBQ Island, and grabbing one guarantees you have the space to smoke and grill for dozens at a time. It features 1600 square inches of grate space: enough room to hold a dozen pork butts at once! Better yet, all that food will fit on 3-layers of stainless steel grates that slide and lock into place for easier access to your grub than ever before.
This grill is powered by our Alpha Connect 2.0 Controller, with just a few taps it will ignite a fire, reach your set temperature and maintain it throughout your BBQ session. It features two probe ports, a brighter, more legible screen and a capacitive touchscreen interface that connects directly to your phone. You can set temperatures and timers, monitor probes and alarms and search for troubleshooting advice all from our smartphone app or the controller.
When it comes to build-quality, the Silverbac 2.0 XL is everything you’ve come to expect from Grilla. Stainless steel where it matters most, double wall construction for all-season performance and a new built-in front shelf attachment. We also created a new grease management system that funnels your waste into an integrated chamber so it’s less messy and keeps pets and critters out of the grease. The upgraded hopper also holds 33lbs. of fuel, enough to smoke for more than 24-hours straight at 250.
Finally, the Silverbac 2.0 XL still has all the exclusive features the Grilla Community knows and loves. You can still choose between PID mode for steady performance or increase smoke production with our exclusive Pro Smoke mode. It has our industry exclusive TempTamer technology, and we even added our new wood chunk burning heat deflector so you can crank up the smoke production even more.
The Silverbac 2.0 XL is the ultimate barrel style pellet smoker, and now you can put it alongside your other outdoor kitchen pieces. This is the culmination of more than a decade of research, development and dedicated fan feedback. Contact our customer service team with any questions or suggestions, we’d love to hear from you.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Silverbac 2.0 XL Built-In Pellet Smoker and Grill
How is the Silverbac XL different from the standard size Silverbac?
To start, the Silverbac 2.0 XL cooking chamber is much larger, featuring a total of 1644 square inches of space spread across three layers of grates. The standard size Silverbac cooking space is 692 square inches, almost 1000 square inches smaller.
The Silverbac 2.0 XL features a completely new grease management system that’s been moved inside the body of the grill. It will keep pesky wildlife out of your grease bucket and help maintain a cleaner cooking area.
We’ve also redesigned the grill racks to function like sliding oven racks. Now you’ll have better access to the food in the back of the smoker without getting messy. We’ve even added built-in rack jacks to hold the main grate in place while you clean the burn pot and barrel.
Finally, we’ve even created a special version of the outdoor kitchen built-in that specifically houses the Silverbac 2.0 XL. It integrates the grill and hopper directly into the built-in unit as opposed to sitting on top of the cabinet like the standard version.
How is the Silverbac 2.0 different from the original?
To start, the Silverbac 2.0 has an updated barrel and handle design with an added grip for ease of use. We’ve widened the wheelbase for better stability and completely redesigned the hopper. It’s now able to hold up to 33lbs of pellets, that’s 13lbs more than the original!
The Silverbac 2.0 also comes installed with our new Alpha Connect 2.0 controller, which was previously only available on the Mammoth.
Finally, we’ve updated the smokestack and added our stainless steel accessory pack to the base model of the Silverbac 2.0.
Does the Silverbac 2.0 XL Built-In come with Grilla’s Pro Smoke and PID modes?
Definitely, it has our new Alpha Connect 2.0 Controller which includes all the features you’ve come to love on our previous versions, and a bunch of new improvements. View your set temp, live temp, probe temp, timers and cooking mode all at the same time, on the same screen.
How do I find more information about the Alpha Connect 2.0 Controller?
Click this link and watch our video all about the new features that come with the Alpha Connect 2.0 upgrade. The grill featured in the video is a Mammoth, but the controllers have the exact same feature set!
How do I find more information about the TempTamer feature?
Click this link and watch our video that explains exactly what it does. Long story short, it makes opening your grill have less of an impact on your temperature throughout your smoke session.
Can I sear with the Silverbac 2.0 XL Built-In?
Yes! Simply crank your heat above 450°. For those extremely defined grill marks, we also offer custom Grill Grates customized specifically for the Silverbac.
Will the Silverbac 2.0 XL Built-In maintain cooking temperatures in cold weather?
You bet, all our pellet grills come standard with a double wall internal steel thermal jacket. This heavy-duty design is more efficient when the temperature drops below 55°F: up to 33% more than single wall pellet smokers. That means you're going to burn less fuel in cold weather, and you have a full range of operating temperatures in any climate.
Do I need to use a thermal blanket in cold weather?
Heck no, did you read the last question?! Our double wall thermal jacket provides all the protection from the cold you could possibly need. No more messy, smokey blanket storage because you've got the all-season performance of a grill that costs twice as much.
How do I get replacement parts for the Silverbac 2.0 XL Built-In?
Replacement parts can be purchased online, contact our customer service for assistance.
How do I season my Silverbac 2.0 XL Built-In?
Before you get to smoking, it's important to season your smoker. This process will remove any manufacturing oils left on the grill. Run your grill for 45 minutes at 450°, then you are ready to either shut it off or start smoking. Refer to the manual or this video for additional instructions.
Do I have to buy a specific brand of pellets to use with the Silverbac 2.0 XL Built-In?
Nope! Any food grade wood pellet will work in these units. That said, we do recommend using quality hardwood pellet fuel as opposed to alder wood. We provide plenty of information on how to find and use wood pellets so just search our blog for articles about what to look for.
How many cooks can I get with a full hopper?
At an average cooking temperature of 250°, pellets burn at about a pound an hour. The Silverbac 2.0 XL hopper holds 33lbs. of pellets and will cook for around 30 hours at that temp.
Are wood pellet grills healthy?
This is a deeper question than it might appear at first, but on one level choosing to cook food on a wood pellet grill will generally provide a lower calorie, lower fat option than pan frying or deep frying that same food.
How do wood pellet grills work?
Pellet grills work off of electricity, so they need an outlet to supply their power. That electricity allows the grill to move pellets into the hopper and funnel them down to a firepot using a rotating auger and motor. Once the pellets hit the firepot an igniter rod sparks a flame and smoke is produced. The electricity powers a fan that blows that smoke and heat upwards which then provides smoky, convection cooking throughout the grill. All of this is taken care of by your Alpha Connect 2.0 controller, so you don't have to worry about anything but eating!
