Silverbac All-Terrain 2.0: Updated Cart, Bigger Hopper, Better Controller
The Silverbac XL revolutionizes our line of barrel style pellet smokers, boasting our largest barrel capacity, 3-levels of sliding grates, a new grease management system and a redesigned body with an integrated front shelf. This is everything the Grilla Community has been asking for in an Extra Large Silverbac and then some.
The redesigned All-Terrain Cart is still designed with the pitmaster in mind, made from 14-gauge steel with numerous mounts and bungee ports. We’ve updated to a new kingpin steering system that significantly increases the stability and turn radius. The wheels are still fully made from rubber and now feature built-in brakes. We’ve also added a new telescoping handle that makes it easy to store when not in use.
The All-Terrain 2.0 comes with our Alpha Connect 2.0 Controller that features two probe ports, a brighter, easier to read screen and a capacitive touchscreen interface that connects directly to your phone. You can set temperatures and timers, monitor probes and alarms and search for troubleshooting advice all from our smartphone app or on the grill itself.
With just a few taps it automatically ignites and maintains your fire so you can focus on family and friends instead of your smoker. It can grill, smoke, sear and even bake pizza and desserts.
You’ll be able to choose between either PID mode for steady performance or increase smoke production with our exclusive Pro Smoke mode. The Silverbac AT 2.0 even features our industry exclusive TempTamer technology technology that diminishes the effect opening the grill has on the temperature.
Finally, the Silverbac AT 2.0 is still constructed to Grilla standards, which means it’s overbuilt for the outdoors with stainless steel construction where it matters most. Like all our grills it features double wall insulation for all-season performance, which means you won’t need a thermal blanket in the winter. We’ve also redesigned the hopper to hold 33lbs. of pellets at once, updated the handle and chimney for ease of use and added quality of life hardware to the base model of the smoker.
The Silverbac All-Terrain 2.0 is our most stable, easiest to handle version yet. It’s sturdy enough to withstand mud, snow, hills and sand and powerful enough to crank out incredible BBQ in those conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Silverbac AT 2.0 Pellet Smoker and Grill
How is the Silverbac 2.0 different from the original?
To start, the Silverbac 2.0 has an updated barrel and handle design with an added grip for ease of use. We’ve widened the wheelbase for better stability and completely redesigned the hopper. It’s now able to hold up to 33lbs of pellets, that’s 13lbs more than the original!
The Silverbac 2.0 also comes installed with our new Alpha Connect 2.0 controller, which was previously only available on the Mammoth.
Finally, we’ve updated the smokestack and added our stainless steel accessory pack to the base model of the Silverbac 2.0.
Does the Silverbac AT 2.0 come with Grilla’s Pro Smoke and PID modes?
Definitely, it has our new Alpha Connect 2.0 controller which includes all the features you’ve come to love on our previous versions, and a bunch of new improvements. View your set temp, live temp, probe temp, timers and cooking mode all at the same time, on the same screen.
How do I find more information about the Alpha Connect 2.0 Controller?
Click this link and watch our video all about the new features that come with the Alpha Connect 2.0 upgrade. The grill featured in the video is a Mammoth, but the controllers have the exact same feature set!
Can I sear with the Silverbac AT 2.0?
Yes! Simply crank your heat above 450°. For those extremely defined grill marks, we also offer custom Grill Grates customized specifically for the Silverbac.
Will the Silverbac AT 2.0 maintain cooking temperatures in cold weather?
You bet, all our pellet grills come standard with a double wall internal steel thermal jacket. This heavy-duty design is more efficient when the temperature drops below 55°F: up to 33% more than single wall pellet smokers. That means you're going to burn less fuel in cold weather, and you have a full range of operating temperatures in any climate.
Do I need to use a thermal blanket in cold weather?
Heck no, did you read the last question?! Our double wall internal steel thermal jacket provides all the protection from the cold you could possibly need. No more messy, smokey blanket storage because you've got the all-season performance of a grill that costs twice as much.
How do I get replacement parts for the Silverbac AT 2.0?
Replacement parts can be purchased online, contact our customer service for assistance.
How do I season my Silverbac AT 2.0?
Before you get to smoking, it's important to season your smoker. This process will remove any manufacturing oils left on the grill. Run your grill for 45 minutes at 450°, then you are ready to either shut it off or start smoking. Refer to the manual or this video for additional instructions.
Do I have to buy a specific brand of pellets to use with the Silverbac AT 2.0?
Nope! Any food grade wood pellet will work in these units. That said, we do recommend using quality hardwood pellet fuel as opposed to alder wood. We provide plenty of information on how to find and use wood pellets so just search our blog for articles about what to look for.
How many cooks can I get with a full hopper?
At an average cooking temperature of 250°, pellets burn at about a pound an hour. The Silverbac 2.0 hopper holds 33lbs. of pellets and will cook for around 30 hours at that temp.
Are wood pellet grills healthy?
This is a deeper question than it might appear at first, but on one level choosing to cook food on a wood pellet grill will generally provide a lower calorie, lower fat option than pan frying or deep frying that same food.
How do wood pellet grills work?
Pellet grills work off of electricity, so they need an outlet to supply their power. That electricity allows the grill to move pellets into the hopper and funnel them down to a firepot using a rotating auger and motor. Once the pellets hit the firepot an igniter rod sparks a flame and smoke is produced. The electricity powers a fan that blows that smoke and heat upwards which then provides smoky, convection cooking throughout the grill. All of this is taken care of by your Alpha Connect 2.0 controller, so you don't have to worry about anything but eating!
